Federal Party Leaders Focus on Western Canada as Campaign Pushes Forward

OTTAWA — The federal election campaign continues today with all three major party leaders making stops in Western Canada.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is set to hold a press conference in Edmonton at 8:30 a.m., before traveling to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, for an evening rally.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh will be in Vancouver for a 9:30 a.m. announcement, after which he plans to join striking workers on a picket line and meet with Grand Chief Stewart Philip of the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs later in the day in Burnaby, B.C.

Liberal Leader Mark Carney is expected to make an announcement in Delta, B.C., in the morning, followed by a visit to a local business in New Westminster. He’ll then head to Calgary for a rally in the evening.

The campaign’s third week kicked off with both the Liberal and Conservative leaders spending time in British Columbia, a key battleground province with 43 federal seats at stake in the upcoming April 28th election.

So far, the Liberals have promised new environmental conservation initiatives and support for seniors, the Conservatives have focused on faster approvals for resource projects, and the NDP has pledged $16 billion over four years to build three million new homes by 2030.
