The Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) has announced its 2025–2026 leadership team, ushering in a new era of advocacy, equity, and innovation for women in the industry.
CAWIC’s New Executive Director – Sarah Morison
The board has appointed Sarah Morison as Executive Director. With an extensive background in non-profit leadership, associations, and B-Corps, Morison specializes in scaling organizations, strengthening engagement, and ensuring values-based decision-making.
“I’m honoured to be CAWIC’s new executive director and to be part of such a forward-thinking and supportive community,” said Morison.
Her initial priorities include:
- Elevating CAWIC’s reputation as the national authority for women in construction.
- Expanding partnerships and diversifying funding through innovative collaborations.
- Building a connected national community where women and allies feel supported.
CAWIC’s New President – Kristen Bauer
Kristen Bauer, a longtime CAWIC member and past chair of the Western Canada chapter, has been named President. Bauer, who currently works as Senior Manager of Product and Solutions – Innovative Technologies at United Rentals, brings nearly two decades of experience in project management, business development, and innovation.
“CAWIC is more than an association — it’s a movement for real, lasting change,” Bauer emphasized.
Her leadership priorities include:
- Establishing CAWIC as a leading national advocacy body.
- Strengthening governance and financial sustainability.
- Championing systemic change and data-driven advocacy.
- Building lasting networks to ensure CAWIC’s national presence.
Driving Change in Canada’s Construction Sector
Both leaders stress the importance of transforming construction culture by engaging men as allies, creating career pathways for women, and fostering inclusive leadership.
Recently, CAWIC secured $460,000 in provincial funding to provide targeted training and resources to 100 women in construction. Morison and Bauer will oversee how these funds are implemented.
The Bigger Vision
Morison and Bauer’s appointments reflect CAWIC’s mission to champion equity, opportunity, and innovation. Together, they aim to strengthen the organization’s influence and ensure that women across Canada have the support, training, and advocacy they need to thrive in construction.
